Filip Van Huffel volgde training bij verschillende hedendaagse dansgezelschappen in Europa. Hij danste o.a. bij Claudio Bernardo, Air de C en Company Thor in België, Frey Faust in Duitsland en Random Dance Company in Londen. Hij is artistiek leider van het Vlaams-Britsdansgezelschap Retina Dance Company, opgericht in 1995. Met Retina creëerde hij tot nu toe 19 dansvoorstellingen met internationale tournees. Filip Van Huffel wordt ook regelmatig uitgenodigd om werk te maken voor andere gezelschappen zoals Verve, Curve Foundation, EDge, Maiden Voyage, Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen, Akademi, Shobana Jeyasingh, Stopgap, Ludus and X:ida Dance Companies. Ook creëerde hij een dans voor de Camera production Freeze for BBC/ACE.
Filip Van Huffel will start the workshop with a technique class that focuses on the process of movement, exploring the flow of energy through the body, emphasising efficiency and freedom. Fast paced and quirky, his class uses continuous flow, weight and breath to energise movement through the space and body.
The workshop will continue with taught material, improvisation and an opportunity for the participants to work with choreographic devices Filip uses within his own work. Incorporating solo and partner work, the content will focus on the process of movement rather than shape, and the internal motivation of movement to produce physically vibrant movement material.
